About Clean Run Magazine
Here are some facts about Clean Run:
- Clean Run is a training journal designed especially for agility instructors and enthusiasts.
- A one-year U.S. subscription is $48 for the printed magazine and $24.95 for the digital edition.
- Each issue is 68 to 84 pages in length (average is 84 pages per month).
- It is a full-color publication and is printed on high-quality satin-finish paper with a UV-coated cover.
- Finished trim size is 8.125" x 10.875".
- Clean Run has received five nominations for the Dog Writers of America award for best Special Interest Dog Magazine, and won the award in 2004 and 2005.
Demographics
Clean Run started as a weekly newsletter in 1995 with 60 subscribers. Subscriptions grew steadily every year. When we reached 600 subscribers in 1997, we switched to a monthly magazine format. We currently have over 8,200 paid subscribers and estimate actual readership to be well over 30,000 as many people in agility clubs and classes share subscriptions.
In a readership survey, 42% said they read each issue from cover to cover with another 46% saying that they read most of the articles each month. A staggering 91% of our readers indicated that they keep all of their issues of the magazine on file so they can refer to past articles on a regular basis. Many subscribers tells us that they put each page of their magazine in a protective cover and keep the issues in a binder.
Other demographic information of interest:
- Over 94% of our subscribers are women.
- Over 17% are between 31 and 40 years of age, 38% are between 41 and 50 years of age, and 30% are between the ages of 51 and 60 years.
- Our typical reader attends 12-18 agility trials each year and spends over $4,000 annually on this hobby.
- Almost 50% of our subscribers are involved in training other people in agility. Many of them are experts in the field and they are in a position either to make product recommendations to training committees, owners of training facilities, colleagues—and, of course, their students.
- 90% of our subscribers reside in the U.S. Over 26% of our subscribers are from the Western part of the U.S., over 23% are from the South, over 20% are from the Midwest, and over 19% are from the Northeast. 6% of our readers are from Canada and 4% are from other countries.

- These rates apply whether your advertisement is for a business or commercial product, or for an individual or club (for example, an ad to celebrate a new title or to announce an event).
- Your ad will appear in both the printed magazine and in the digital edition. Within the digital edition any website URLs included in your ad will be "live."
- The rates apply only to camera-ready ads. There is a minimum $30 setup charge for ads that are not camera-ready.
- You may request specific page placement for an ad. We will do the best we can to meet your needs, but we will not guarantee preferred page placement unless you pay an additional fee of $100 regardless of the size of the ad.
- Payment in U.S. funds must accompany submission of advertising materials unless you are committing to a one-year contract, in which case we will bill you on a quarterly basis.
- Changes to an ad requested after the submission of materials will result in additional charges. Therefore, please take the time to have other people check spelling, etc. and to make sure that your ad is exactly the way you want it.
- Reservations are not necessary unless you want inside cover or back cover positioning. For all other ads, just submit the ad materials by the closing date specified to be sure that your ad is included in that issue.
- All rates are non-commissionable.
Ad Closing Dates
The closing date for advertising materials and payment to arrive in the office is the 15th of each month. This applies even if the 15th of the month falls on a weekend. Because there is no mail delivery to the office on the weekend, you will need to be sure that your ad arrives on Friday. These dates are not negotiable.

If you submit the ad before the 15th, you will not hear from us regarding whether there are any problems with the ad until after the 15th. We have included time in the schedule for us to work with you to fix any problems.
Instructions for Preparing Ads
If you are going to prepare your own ad or have someone do it for you, you must use the appropriate software and submit the file according to our instructions. Files that are not created according to our specifications will be subject to setup fees, and there could also be a delay in the publication of your ad. Paying for Your Ad
Payment must accompany submission of your ad materials.
- To pay by credit card, call 800-311-6503 or use our secure online store: Pay Online Now.
- To pay by check, mail a check or money order in U.S. funds to Clean Run, 17 Industrial Dr., South Hadley, MA 01075. Payment must arrive by the ad closing date.
Sending Your Ad or Photos to Us
Use our online dropbox to deliver the file for your print-ready ad to us, or to send photos and graphics if we're setting up the ad for you:
- Go to http://dropbox.yousendit.com/cleanrun.
- Scroll down and check off "Magazine Ads" as the dropbox recipient.
- Type the name of your ad in the subject line.
- Enter your email address in the space provided.
- Use the "Select a file" box to choose the file on your hard drive that you want to send us.
- If you have additional files to send, click on the "Add another file" option.
- Click the "Send It" icon.
- Send an email to ads@cleanrun.com, making sure that you include all of the information in the checklist below.
Notes:
- File size should not be a problem; you can send files up to 2 gigabytes in size.
- Preferably, multiple files should be compressed into a single file with Stuffit, PKZip, or WinZip. This will save uploading time for you and downloading time for us.
Checklist: Information to Include with Your Ad
When you submit your ad materials, you must supply the following information to us either by email, phone, or mail:
- Ad title or advertiser name—for example, Rover MACH Ad or ABC Agility Equipment. Please refer to this name in all correspondence with the office and when making arrangements for payment.
- Issue you want the ad to appear in
- How many times you want the ad to run, if you want to run it more than once
- Ad size
- Ad orientation (horizontal or vertical) for 1/3 page or 1/2 page ads
- Color or black & white
- Your email address and day time phone number
- Email address and day time phone number of the person who prepared the ad, if someone other than yourself
- Releases from the photographer(s) of photos being used in the ad, giving you permission to reproduce those photos. If the photos were not shot by professionals and no credit is necessary, you must still send us an email or note stating this fact.
- All email correspondence regarding ads should be directed to ads@cleanrun.com and not to the customer service email address or anyone's personal email address. The best way to correspond with us about any concerns or problems other than payment is by email.
- Even if you submit your ad before the deadline for an issue, do not expect to hear from us regarding your ad until after the 15th of the month.
