Susan Garrett's revolutionary 2x2 weave training method takes a skill that handlers often struggle with for months and turns it into one that can be trained in just weeks! This 2-disc DVD set allows you to witness not only how easily Susan trained her own young dog to weave from start to finish, but also how she worked through the 2x2 process with a "borrowed" dog she had never worked with before. This instructional format allows you to witness both the possibilities of amazing weave poles in a matter of days as well as how to work through the normal challenges you may encounter while training your dog using the 2x2 method. Step-by-step instruction and methodically laid-out demos will show you not only what to do when things go wrong, but also how to push your dog when things go well.

Included on Disc 2 are advanced weave drills that will challenge the understanding of even the most experienced agility dog as well as a 15-page workbook in PDF format.

Regardless of whether you are a novice agility enthusiast just starting out in the sport or a seasoned professional giving seminars yourself, this DVD set will forever change your approach to weave pole training.

About the Author

In total her dogs have won two World Championships and 18 National Championships (11 in the United States and 7 in Canada) at 6 different jump heights (8", 12", 16", 22", 24", and 26"). Her innovative approach to training has earned her worldwide recognition as a leading educator of dog trainers.

  • Can you use this DVD to retrain a dog that already knows how to weave?

If you have an experienced agility dog and you want to retrain or "brush-up" his skills to make sure he has a solid understanding of entrances and his job in the poles, then Susan recommends that you start from the beginning of the 2x2 program, just like a dog new to the poles.

What are the specifications for the 2x2 poles?

The 2x2 weave pole bases need to have a "tail" on both ends so that they are easy to line up, and they must have holes in the bases so that you can secure them to the ground with stakes.

  • Susan Garrett's Shaping Success book states that the spacing of the poles should be 20" on center. Does that apply even if I'm going to be trialing on weaves that are spaced at 22" or 24"?

Susan recommends teaching the dog the correct behavior on tighter spacing because the dogs can easily adjust to a wider space between the poles. If, however, you teach the initial behavior using 2x2 poles that set at a wider spacing, the dogs will have a much more difficult time adjusting (and may even skip poles) when faced with weave poles that have a tighter spacing.
