Thunder Cap

Common situations can be very stressful for anxious, shy, or fearful dogs. For these dogs visits to the vet, introductions to other dogs and to people, or car trips, can put an emotional and physical strain on you, the dog, and your relationship. Created by leading animal behaviorist, Trish King, the Thunder Cap (formerly called the Calming Cap)  is a behavior management tool that is designed to lessen a dog's anxiety or aggression in these stressful situations. We were surprised with how well the Thunder Cap worked for nail cutting sessions.

The Thunder Cap is not a blindfold; it reduces the visual stimuli that make a dog agitated by filtering the dog's vision. The single-panel sheer fabric window offers the dog enough vision to confidently maneuver around his environment. Try it for yourself. You'll see that while your vision is somewhat limited, you're still able to comfortably and assuredly make out shapes.

Made of soft fabric and elastic for a comfortable fit, the Thunrder Cap has two adjustable strips that allow for easy on/off use. The Calming Cap is grey and comes in 4 sizes. Please click on the Sizing tab for information on measuring and fitting your dog for the Thunder Cap.

Note: While the Thunder Cap works for many dogs, it will not be effective on all dogs. You have to try it with your dog to determine if it will help; but, the manufacturer offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
