The Really Reliable Recall is having your dog come immediately when called, the first time you call him, no matter what he is doing. It works at a distance, when he is with other dogs, when he is greeting other people, chasing squirrels or sniffing in holes. He doesn’t think, he doesn’t decide, he just comes to you. It’s not your everyday recall that you use countless times a day. It’s your emergency recall—the one you use when you need instant response. It keeps your dog safe and gives you piece of mind. In this video production, Leslie Nelson shares her step-by-step technique for teaching the Really Reliable Recall. This DVD includes extra chapters for difficult-to-train breeds as well as for training class instructors.

"I had a weekend seminar that included the Really Reliable Recall (RRR) with Leslie when she came to NOMAD agility club in January 2004. I practiced faithfully with my Aussie Chance, and it has saved his cute little Aussie butt more than once. While at an agility trial, we were on an early morning off-leash walk in the woods behind the Blackthorne when 4 deer bounded across the path about 10 yards in front of Chance, who was about 20 yards in front of me. He took two leaps toward them by the time I yelled my RRR, "Chance, YAHOOOOO!" He stopped in his tracks and came running back to me! And -- the frosting on the cake -- I had super delectable treats with me to reward him." —Lynne von Trapp and Chance

"No more excuses!!! Leslie Nelson makes the Really Reliable Recall a real-life possibility for e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e. Finally, someone has taken the time to combine lots of useful information from different sources and put them all together in one package. Her sensibly outlined methods are not rocket science, rather a simple and well-organized compilation of common-sense concepts and techniques that get results, no matter what breed of dog or trainer's level of expertise. Consider it a gift to yourself and potential lifesaver to your dog." —Heide Wettingfeld

"I have always owned dogs that had good recalls and felt that they would hold up under most circumstances. I had seen the information (in person, at a seminar) on the RRR DVD and thought it might be interesting to look at but, felt that I had everything under control and would look at it if I had extra time and money. Then I had a horrifying near miss at a park that clearly showed that there is a difference in a recall under stressful circumstances. Someone didn't put their truck into gear and it rolled (driverless) through the park I was working my dogs in. My dog who has a CDX in obedience, an HS in herding and a MACH in agility, froze when I screamed for him to get out of the way. He came when I moderated my voice and narrowly missed being hit. My puppy was in an x-pen which was hit by the truck and she jumped out and ran across a street and into a yard then back across the street and under my van. Both of my dogs were fine, but what frightened me the most was that my TRAINED dog was so frightened by my panicked tone of voice he froze and could have been hit if I hadn't realized it was me that was causing him to freeze. The puppy was 10 weeks old and I really thought she was going to survive the accident only to be hit in the street or just start running and disappear. Within a week I ordered the Really Reliable Recall DVD and began working with all my dogs on the RRR. I have shelties and they were very quick to respond to the training. The amount of time it took was minimal and well worth the effort. What makes this so different from the recall I'd trained is that it does become a reflex for the dogs AND for me. My two younger dogs now will respond quickly even when I use a panicky or upset tone of voice. My older dog is still slower than the other two, but is improving as time goes by. I have used it several times when my dogs have started to chase a deer and it is amazing to see how quickly they turned and came back to me-and they did get their 30 seconds of reward time! I help teach obedience for my kennel club and I have recommended this DVD to not only the people taking obedience classes there but also to the other instructors. I feel strongly that this tape could give a person and their dog a tool that really could be lifesaving." —Kathi Kikuyama
