Baskerville Ultra Muzzle

Baskerville Ultra Muzzle

$15.99 - $26.99

The Baskerville Ultra is the ultimate muzzle. Every aspect of this muzzle's design has been created to combine maximum safety with maximum comfort for the dog. It took Dr. Roger Mugford (Britain's leading animal behaviorist and a pioneer in behavioral therapy) over four years to develop the Baskerville Ultra, and the result is a huge step forward for muzzles. This muzzle offers a flexible fit even for dogs with wide noses, and it is also "treat-friendly," allowing you to reward you dog while he's wearing it, which is essential during behavior modification training programs.

The thermoplastic material is extremely tough and durable, yet malleable and soft to touch. The ergonomically designed safety strapping ensures the muzzle will always remain securely in place, but also has neoprene padding for the dog's comfort. The Ultra Muzzle features two additional points of secure attachment: 1) the loop at the bottom is designed to attach to your dog's regular collar, and 2) an optional over-the-head safety strap should ensure that even a canine Houdini cannot escape! The head strap can be removed if you do not need to use it. The Baskerville Ultra Muzzle also has a secure metal buckle with pre-holed webbing to ensure that the muzzle is quick and easy to fit.

What size muzzle does your dog need? Click on the Sizing tab above for instructions on how to measure your dog and choose the appropriate size.

Using a flexible tape measure, take the following measurements:

  • Snout Length: Measure along the top of your dog's nose from 1/2" below his eyes to the end of his nose.
  • Nose Circumference: Measure all the way around your dog's nose at this same point (1/2" below his eyes) with his mouth closed.

The circumference measurements are the exact circumference of the Baskerville Ultra Muzzle. In order to give your dog enough room to pant while wearing the muzzle, you should select a muzzle with a circumference that is 1" to 3" larger than your dog's nose circumference measurement so that he can open his mouth comfortably and pant while wearing the muzzle. When fitted, there should be 1/4" or a bit less between the end of the dog’s nose and the end of the muzzle.

You should select a muzzle based on your particular dog's measurements. The breeds listed are only intended as general examples.

  • When first introducing the Baskerville Ultra, place food in your hand and allow the dog to eat through the muzzle to encourage him to voluntarily put his nose into the muzzle. Continue to do this until he is happy, at which point you can then secure the back strap, which should be sufficiently tight to prevent the dog from removing it.
  • If you do not need to use the top strap, it can be removed.
