Backyard Dogs Live is based on the same format as the longest running and most popular column in Clean Run magazine. It presents exercises that:

  • Focus on specific skills
  • Fit in a 40 ft. by 50 ft. space
  • Require only 6 jumps, a tunnel, a table, and a set of 6 weave poles
  • Provide varying levels of difficulty without any equipment changes

Besides the exercises, you get a video of Dudley Shumate training her own dogs on some of the sequences. She works her small dog and a bigger, long-striding dog. These are real-life real-time unrehearsed training sessions! Dudley explains what’s going right as well as what’s going wrong, and shares information on how to problem solve.

“Having an expert handler show an unrehearsed example of how to run each of the backyard sequences, AND give some tips on how I can help my dog make choices or corrections is ideal!”

I expected the "Backyard Dogs Live” to be good, but after watching the video, I can tell you it was SENSATIONAL!

“The way it was presented I felt like I was having a one on one lesson with Dudley.”

“The video quality, sound, and graphics were very professional. Showing the course map on the video along with highlighting specific working areas helped me to comprehend what was being taught.”

“Brilliant idea to work two different dogs with different strides on the exercises. I was able to relate more personally to the work being illustrated.”

“I loved that the dogs made mistakes and Dudley showed how to work through the problems. That process was so valuable to me as a handler.”

“The training recap and ideas on how to problem solve trouble areas with your own dog pertains not only to this particular course but also to any other course you may work on.”

“Loved this! Easy to set up. The video was very helpful because I wasn't really sure how I was going to handle the tougher weave entrance. Already looking forward to the next one!”
