Agent 008 is an innovative dexterity game for dogs that was developed by My Intelligent Pets in Austria. This is the one of the most challenging games they make and it is recommended for dogs who have experience solving puzzles. It's graded very difficult; 4 paws on a scale of 1 to 4.
The game consists of a wooden frame that the numbers zero, zero, and eight (008) have been carved out of to provide openings for the game pieces, called "hats." The hats can only be inserted and removed at two openings. The goal is to move the "hat" under which the treat is hidden into the "unlocking" position where the dog can knock it over to expose the treat.
The difficulty of this game comes from the sliders or "bridges" that connect the three tracks forming the number 008 on the base. The dog can close or open the sliders, depending on which direction he pushes them. So he has to learn how to move the bridges correctly in order to advance to the track where the hat can be released.
You can regulate this challenge by positioning the hat close to the unlocking position and then gradually moving it away from that point as the dog learns the trick.
If your dog masters this puzzle, you can brag that he has a "license to play" and is ready to join the secret agents in service of Her Majesty the Queen!
Size is 13"W x 13"L x 2"H.
Note: Never let your dog play unsupervised, and intervene if he starts to chew pieces of the game. Regularly check the pieces for any damage. Intelligent Pet games and puzzles are made from certified wood covered with water-based varnish that is not harmful to humans or animals. Please keep the game dry and free of water exposure, as the wooden pieces may swell otherwise. Use only dry treats for playing. Clean by wiping with a damp cloth, and do not use abrasive cleaners.
Step 1: Hide your dog's favorite treats underneath the "hats." Then move the pieces from the opening on the left-hand side into the appropriate tracks.
Step 2: Encourage your dog verbally to start searching. Be patient and show him how the game works. For instance, you could pint out to where a treat is waiting to be discovered.
Step 3: Initially use only a few hats and set the game at an easier level. Increase the level of difficulty by adding pieces only when your dog can solve the puzzle without difficulty. That way he is constantly challenged, and the game provides a meaningful and rewarding activity for both of you.
