Pronounced "tah' pa," which means "padded" in Finnish, the Toppa Pomppa is a thick, generously sized, and super-warm winter dog coat for freezing weather conditions. The waterproof shell fabric, soft and anti-static teddy lining, and added insulation keep the dog warm even in the coldest weather conditions. The coat is designed to cover the large and important muscle groups efficiently. This is the warmest coat that Pomppa Oy makes.

Designed by Pomppa Oy in Finland, this stylish and excellently made dog coat protects the dog's back, neck, abdomen, and rear end without restricting their natural movement. The front slits allow the dog to move his front legs without restriction. The large collar opening allows the dog to move his head freely. The snug-fitting belt holds the coat in place so there's no need for rubber bands around the hind legs, and the curved buckle conforms to the dog's back. The dog can also wag and carry their tail freely due to the tail slit at the back. Reflectors ensure your dog is seen in low-light conditions.

The Toppa Pomppa is the perfect winter coat for cold-sensitive dogs. For dog's with thick fur, we recommend using Toppa Pomppa for calmer walks or for downtime between performances when it's crucial to keep the large muscle groups warm. The generously sized coat protects the dog's back, neck, abdomen, and rear end efficiently. If your dog has thick fur and is very active outside in the winter, you may want to look at the Perus Pomppa since it doesn't have the added layer of insulation.

Features:

  • Exceptionally warm winter coat
  • Warm insulation added inside
  • Full protection without restriction of movement
  • Simple yet unique design is easy to put on
  • Collar has a convenient leash hole
  • All materials are machine-washable

Please note that the back length of Toppa Pomppa is 2 cm longer than in other similarly sized Pomppa coats. If your dog is between sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size.

For a comparison of the different types of Pomppa coats and what they are designed for, please read "Choosing the Right Coat."

How to Measure Your Dog

The size of Pomppa coats correspond directly to the dog's back length in centimeters. However, depending on the dog's proportions, the thickness of the dog's fur, or the intended use of the product, the correct size may be a size larger or smaller than what the back length indicates. If you are uncertain of sizing, please call or email us for assistance.

Note: The sizing for the Toppa Pomppa is different than it is for any of the other Pomppa coats. The back length of the Toppa Pomppa is 2 cm longer than in other similarly sized Pomppa coats. If your dog is between sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size.

1. Back Length - Be sure that your dog is standing squarely, with head up, and is looking straight ahead. Following the contour of the dog's back closely, measure from the dog's neck at the point where it joins his shoulders to the base of his tail (the point where the tail joins the body).

2. Not used for Toppa Pomppa

3. Chest - The circumference of the chest is measured at the widest point of the dog’s chest.

4. Waist - The circumference of the waist is measured behind the chest from the narrowest point of the dog.

Best Bitter Weather Dog Coat on the Market
I think my dog may have more dog coats than I do. We live in Minnesota and my dog has a good double coat himself but now that he's older he wears man-made coats more often. This coat is perfect for him for those blustery days with wind chill below zero in particular. It covers his bad hips, spine and core even in strong winds so, with the addition of boots, we can be out in any weather that Minnesota throws at us. It also keeps him warm and allows him to lie down comfortably when he needs to be in a car crate between runs for K9 scent detection games in cold weather. On walks, it makes him visible to vehicles, cross-country skiers, bikers and handlers of other dogs.

Well made. Doesn’t restrict shoulders. Full coverage
This is the best coat I have found. It provides full coverage and doesn’t restrict movement. Other coats caused shoulder restriction for my dog which caused me to look for a better coat. This coat is shaped to allow full shoulder range. And it is the first coat that covers the butt and back legs. Also, the inner material doesn’t cause static. Awesome coat. Well worth the money

Great coat
I purchased 2 of these for my Standard Poodles (24" and 25" -- 50-55 lbs) in a size 56. They fit very well and are extremely warm. I might have been able to get by with one size smaller, but they wear them at night and I like the extra roominess so that nothing binds when they curl up. They are easy to put on and take off and there is no static electricity. The attention to detail is striking -- it completely covers the back and hind legs but there's a nice cut out for the tail. They can take care of business with no mishaps. And as a bonus, it's extremely good looking.

Great winter coat!
There really isn't anything that's NOTgood about this coat: - the outer shell is extremely durable (they spend a lot of time in woods, where inferior material can catch and tear) - the reflective strips are super bright - the lining is fuzzy and thick, and covers 100% of the inside of the coat - easy on/off (no lifting feet necessary) - trailed dogs can still use their tail without interfering with the functionality of the coat due to the scalloped back-end design Also love that they do a special edition color each year. Fun! Definitely a must have in cold climates!
