Newest Product Reviews for Perfect Fit Modular Fleece-Lined Harness - Part 2, Front Piece

A great harness
A great harness that can be modified to most dog's exact body shape due to all three parts being available in different sizes. This also allows you to just swap single parts if your dog's shape changes as they grow, which is what we did for our sheltie after she filled out a bit more when reaching maturity.

Perfect Solution for Whippets (all sighthounds)
I struggled for years to find a good harness for my whippets because of their unique body shape! I was thrilled to finally find these because they allow me to dial in the perfect measurements for the chest and neck. They are well padded and soft so they don’t rub the fur off of the dog and the quality is really great! We have washed them a few times with ZERO issues! THANK YOU for making this system! The video of how to put it on your dog is very cute and very helpful!!

Harness
We've been using this harness for hiking with our terrier for years and it's great. I would recommend it.

Front Piece Fail
Love the comfort of this harness; hate the fact that it cost a lot and is now useless because the front piece has come unstitched. I'm also disgusted that when you report that it has failed after very little use, you are questioned as to how you used it. In other words, if you clip anything to the front only, it WILL fail, and you will have no recourse. I purchased mine in 2018 for taking my boy on hikes so he could be comfortable running around loose, but I would have something I could leash him with when necessary. Unfortunately we have only been on 4 brief hikes in two years. I'm pretty sure it did not say "The harness is NOT designed for the front D-ring to be used on its own" at that time.
Comment from Clean Run We have had an ongoing battle with the manufacturer about including a front ring and expecting the customer to only use that ring in conjunction with the top ring. However, they have a lot of clients who want to use a double connection leash so they include this feature. Our website has always stated that the D-ring is not designed to be used on its own because it is a huge customer service concern. We cannot guarantee the product when the manufacturer says it should not be used a particular way and they won't guarantee the product in that instance -- that's why we have to ask. If you would like to purchase a replacement front piece, we are happy to provide you with one at a substantial discount.

The front D-ring is too small. It is ripping away from the webbing already
That scares me, living in Chicago. I have two hunting labs, I bought both the 20 and 40 size to see what fit best. I returned the 40 size with tags and ordered a second 20, one for each of my dogs. Still I was charged a restocking fee. This despite the fact that I emailed Clean Run to discuss this and was given an OK! The returned harness was only used for fitting purposes, never walking. So, one must ask if a fitting alone would damage the fleece to such a point as to ding me, then it's not a smart choice of material for a $90 harness. Further, why isn't the ring in front the same size as the larger top D-ring? There should be two box-x stitch on both sides of the ring, that is industry standard for webbing and ring use. The front D-ring rotates constantly and gets stuck with the leash clip in the corner every time. The fleece should be secure throughout its length, not just in the middle. I am constantly having to unbunch it. Ridiculous! Why don't they keep the fleece separate so that we can slide it over the straps and buckles completely after adjusting the fit, rather then have the webbing and clips scrape and slide over my dogs' coats and skin. Neoprene would be preferred to this fleece. Quite disappointed in the harness and the service at Clean Run. Penny wise, pound foolish, CR!
Comment from Clean Run I'm sorry that you are disappointed with your harnesses. We only charge a restocking fee if the harness are dirty and need to be cleaned when we receive them. Often when they come back, they are covered with hair and cannot be re-sold until they are properly cleaned and disinfected. This happens even when the harness has just been used for fitting. As far as the D-rings go, as we explain on the website, the front ring is not designed to be used by itself for attaching a lead -- the manufacturer purposely doesn't reinforce it for this reason. The harness is designed to be used with the rear clip attachment. The front D-ring is for attaching a second lead for dogs that require additional guidance and control. We actually don't agree with the manufacturer and have spoken to them numerous times (if you put a ring there, people will use it and not always as you intended), but it's their invention and product and they have other customers who like the ring.

Stitching for d-ring also unraveling *EDIT: contacted for replacement
I have the same issue as the other reviewer. The stitching for the d-ring is unraveling already. Purchased mine in February/March of this year. *EDIT: I was kindly and quickly contacted for details regarding the harness. I sent a picture of the damage and they sent me a replacement. Thank you, customer service. Here’s hoping this one lasts longer!
Comment from Clean Run Are you using a double leash to attach to both the D-ring and the top ring at the same time? Or are you using just the front D-ring? It wasn't designed to be used just as a front ring harness. If you are using it with 2 leashes, then the stitching shouldn't have this problem. I will have customer service contact you.

Saw a good review for this harness but it's already breaking.
I bought a full set of this modular dog harness back in mid-March of 2019 due to one site giving it good ratings. I have been using this on a 40 lb husky with a leash on the back and front D-rings and the stitching holding the front D-ring on it is already starting to unravel/break. I never used the front D-ring alone for walking her and overall used the back ring by itself most walks. I was expecting something a little sturdier since a full set costs about $60. I even purchased the 20mm when she could have worn the 15mm parts due to her pulling strength. Very disappointed.
Comment from Clean Run First want to thank you for your purchase. We have been selling Perfect Fit Harnesses for a very long time and rarely are any quality problems reported, so I would suspect the harness piece you received may have had a stitching defect. Customer service will contact you about replacing it. It would be helpful if you could send a photo of the problem to info@cleanrun.com so that we can discuss it with the manufacturer.
