Many dogs have a hard time collecting into "jump turns" and making efficient tight turns or they take very wide turns. In order to collect for a jump, the dog needs to be trained to understand collection cues and rewarded for tight turns. You need to learn how to cue the dog properly to turn which involves the timing of cues, the location of the dog when a cue is given, and the actual cues themselves (body, verbal, and motion). You also need to understand your dog's physical capability, fitness level, and structure as these affect how tightly he is able to turn.

In this self-study class, you will work on various jump exercises to teach your dog to turn tightly and efficiently. Included as a bonus is a fitness lesson that helps with jumping and collection.

You can start this self-study course whenever you like. It includes 9 lessons that you can complete at your own pace. There are no fixed deadlines or due dates.

Class Objectives

  • Learn how to train and reward collection
  • Clarify your collection (tight turn) cues: verbal, body language, and motion

  • Teach the dog to understand your collection cues
  • Teach the dog to adjust their stride and collect to turn
