There are a million ways to use a Snuffle Mat in your training, and all of them will make your dog happy! Manufactured in the USA, these Snuffle Mats are not like the rest—they are made with over 30% more high-quality fleece strips. For the Medium Snuffle Mat, the strips are double-knotted on a 8"W x 8"L x 3/8" thick, heavy-duty commercial mat for a finished size of 14"W x 14"L x 4-1/2"H. The Medium Snuffle Mat weighs 1-1/2lbs. At 4-1/2", it is thick mat to still provide lots of hiding areas for your dog to sniff and search, but the smaller size makes it easer to transport for training and trialing. It also fits more easily in a crate.
This interactive training tool is elegantly simple, and just the thing to calm, distract, reward, or engage your dog. Created to stimulate your dog's natural foraging instincts, the mat puts both your dog's nose and brain to work. Research studies have shown that animals that forage for some of their food are happier animals. And, did you know that 15 minutes of sniffing uses as many calories as an hour long walk?

The first time using the Snuffle Mat, ask your dog to sit and sprinkle a few treats on top of the mat. Then release him to go sniff. As dog catches on to game, tuck the treats further down in the fleece strips.
