This pre-agility course is designed to be any dog’s or puppy’s foundation training for agility. The B.A.M. program accommodates both the experienced dog trainer and the newbie. The content has been built on Sandy’s 30 years of teaching and training and her love for dog training, especially agility training.

The three essential skills introduced in this course can be kept quite basic or developed into sophisticated combinations of handling cues. These three skills make up the acronym B.A.M:

  • Boomerang: Go away from me and come back to me; builds value in both the send cue and recall.
  • Anchor: Stay put until further instructions; feel brave and in control, building confidence and impulse control.
  • ME: Moving with engagement or stay with me; stick by the leg I indicate while I am still, walking, running, or turning, and I will entertain you. Builds value in focus on the handler and being close.

All agility handling is based on these three concepts. All everyday training for any dog is based on these three concepts. So these skills will benefit your dog in and out of the agility ring.

You can start this self-study course whenever you like. It includes 6 lessons that you can complete at your own pace. There are no fixed deadlines or due dates.

"Sandy demystifies the dog-handler relationship. Whether your goal is agility competition or being the best companion your dog ever had, Sandy can get you there in a way that is fun and engaging for both you and your dog. She has the ability to break the most complex or trying situations into simple steps that you can't wait to practice. The best result of working with Sandy is the strengthened bond I now have with my dog and the increased level of trust I see in her eyes!"  —Lori

"I just want to give a big thank you to Sandy Rogers for her BAM course. I learned so much and have so much to work on! Not only am I working with my young girl; I am also working with my 4-year-old and 9-year-old on the same exercises!"  —Pam

"We are BOTH getting so much out of BAM! You’ve done a gold-standard job of thoughtfully breaking the lessons down into digestible bites and the support you provide is truly top-notch. The lessons expose the dog and handler to things you don’t get in a 'normal' puppy/pre-agility class… and actually, IMO, the support and feedback you provide is equal to or more than anyone would get in a class setting. The tone of the lessons is so positive, which is a huge source of support and inspiration. You make me feel like we WILL succeed in the end! I will absolutely recommend this course to my students who get new puppies, to those who are missing foundational elements, and to those who aren’t as bonded with their dog as they could be."  —Julie and the BCs

"I recently completed the B.A.M. Pre-Agility Foundation Training taught by Sandra Rogers and it was amazing. I have taken other on-line puppy trainings and this one was by far superior in content, feedback and even cost. The videos are so thorough and complete to help you prepare your puppy for real agility training. I have practiced agility with my other dogs so I could see clearly how the basic skills learned in this class will set us up for greater success when we start pre-agility classes. I would highly recommend this class to others who are contemplating working with their puppies on the agility fields."  —Robin

"Thanks for your enthusiasm and your program. Bebop has REALLY helped us to have a good year (at home). Bebop is a 15-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She is my our first dog, and we are recently retired."  —Duane

"I liked the inclusion of the footwork videos. I have found in agility that I struggle with direction change and I end up providing inaccurate body cues for Hilde to follow. I'm a tap dancer so I used my dance steps to help me do these moves!!"  —Lisa

"I was a bit overwhelmed when I first saw all the material to go through for the first week, but once I started going through it I realized they were short snippets and not overwhelming. The videos were the perfect length and I've seen results with my dog already. We were off-leash at an agility trial working on the moving  with exchangement exercise. I was really proud of DJ for keeping his focus on me with dogs barking in the arena and another dog in the potty yard next to us."  —Anna

"I like the footwork videos as I need to be more thoughtful of this in the obedience ring too. Since I am planning on some Disc Freestyle as well, my body movement is super important."  —Robbin

"I am really enjoying the class with my 5-month-old pup. Very sequential. Basic to more advanced."  —C.F.

"Corby and I had a fabulous time with your course!! I don't know if she is finally maturing enough to "get it," but I have had such a great experience with the course. She is finally getting Boomerang. It is amazing to watch her as she realizes what she is supposed to do. Even when I am far away from the jump pole, she goes around the back! We will soon graduate to a tree. Thank you for a great time. It was well worth the $$. I have registered for your next course on footwork. I can finally work with Corby off leash at her weekly in-person class and for that I am truly greatful. She was impossible!" N.B.
