The first-ever Conference Unleashed was a 3-day virtual conference held on October 30 - November 1, 2020. The program was designed for anyone interested in learning about CU, whether an individual with a reactive, distracted, worried, over-the-top dog, an instructor who has to deal with these types of dogs in class, or a professional trainer or behaviorist.
The conference focused on exploring the art and science behind the Control Unleashed® program. Presenters talked about everything from using CU for behavior modification to applying CU in sport-specific training and with multiple species. If you're not sure how the broader themes of CU fit into your training plan for your specific sport, there are unique context talks, given by experienced Certified Control Unleashed Instructors that demonstrate how to apply the CU program to various dog sports and daily life activities.
Presenters include: Leslie McDevitt, Dr. Karen Overall, Julie Daniels, Dr. Laura Donaldson, Eva Bertilsson, Emelie Johnson Vegh, Sarah Owings, Hannah Branigan, Peggy Hogan, Marge Rogers, Cindy Carter, Crystal Gerovac, Jeannine Jay, Nina Haaland, Anette Buind Nordby, Megan Wallace, Jen Digate, MaryKay Hasseman, Laurie C. Williams, Angie Madden, and Ameera Skandarani.

To watch the recorded presentations in our conference classroom, you will need:
- High-speed internet: Watching the recorded presentations will take less bandwidth than watching the live Q&As because the video playback will be buffered as necessary. If you are unsure whether your internet speed is sufficient to watch the recorded videos, you can test it out by joining the free class in the Clean Run Learning Center. The class focuses on agility training, but there are a number of videos you can test out in that classroom, and you can also get a feel for our online classroom. You will be asked to register when you click the link.
- An up-to-date web browser: Please make sure you are using the latest version (or the one before that) of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge. You can check your browser version here: https://www.whatsmybrowser.org/
- An up-to-date operating system: Please make sure you are using the latest version (or the one before that) of Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, or Android.
Just a few of the comments from attendees of the live conference:
"You created a fantastic thing! My third online conference, due to the pandemic, and so far my favorite. I loved the q&a Zoom style, and that's it's recorded. And, although I am in no way a Halloween fan, having that theme was awesome. Well done!" —Lynn B.
"This conference is amazing. It's bringing back so much to me. I couldn't put my finger on what I was missing but something got lost for me over the years I had to step back from training - and it was my CU base. Whew. So happy to have found and be updating my CU skills." —Carol M.
"Brain has exploded into bits and I am filled with joy." —Liz C.
"My brain is thoroughly stretched and I'm loving every moment of it! Can't wait to learn even more tomorrow." —Sasha M.
"Brain is full. Gonna go play Animal Crossing for a while and let it all digest. I feel like I just ate Thanksgiving dinner and went back for seconds on everything (and possibly thirds on the pie)." —Merissa K.
"Just excellent." —Alex K.
About Leslie McDevitt's pattern games presentation: "If every puppy were socialized this way, using the Give Me A Break pattern from a very early age, I think we'd all be out of work! So simple. So brilliant!" —Sarah Owings
About Sarah Owings's presentation: "So good. I’ve heard her talk about this before (and I always was blown away by her ideas) but she has really filled out this subject and addressed many of the questions people ask. She is a woman with cutting edge ideas just like Leslie McDevitt." —Jane E.
About Dr. Overall's presentation: "I feel like I need to watch multiple times - so much great info!" —Renee K.
About Julie Daniels's presentation: "I'm loving Julie Daniels 's talk! So many great ideas." —Megan W.
About Hannah Branigan's presentation: "Awesome presentation! Loopy training is everything and it’s amazing I never thought about using it with humans. Can’t wait to try it!"
About Nina Haaland's presentation: "I wanted to thank Nina for her presentation. Just this one session alone is worth the price of the conference." —Kathy K.
About Ameera and Angie's presentation: "I just want to say this Q&A has been so helpful and really has offered so much more insight into start buttons and I cannot wait to switch over some of my own training plans to start button based cooperative care."
